Participation in Computer Science for All Kickoff Event
In the fall of 2017, CISD was selected to participate in a collaborative partnership with U.T. Dallas and Code.org. To begin the partnership, Code.org invited Kelli Kelsoe (Director of Innovation) and Renee Smith-Faulkner (Associate Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation) to attend the Computer Science For All Kickoff Event that was held in San Francisco, CA. Only 70 school districts from across the nation were invited to attend this event on December 4, 2018. At the kickoff event, CISD was one of thirty school districts highlighted be reading their pledge to provide computer science at all levels.
UTD-Code.org Collaborative 2017-2018
Eight Teachers and the STREAM coordinator were selected to participate in the collaborative. Each will receive a $1,000 stipend from Code.org upon completion of the first 60 hours of professional learning that includes Code.org curriculum training. Additionally, each teacher that passes their computer science certification exam will receive another $1,000 stipend. Here are the teachers that were selected to participate in the collaborative.
